Hey everyone,
After my blaster worm was removed, I notice my XP home
verion machine started showing a popup during
startup "winlogin.exe is missing....etc" I've been
unable to find any mention of this at Microsoft. Where
can I download this program from and which folder does it
need to go into ???? Any ideas ???????????

This happened to a computer at work running Windows 2000, it's a government
computer and we use Tivoli to push system updates over the network and
apparently it was because the system froze in the middle of a Service Pack 3
update, the computer won't even boot now. For my situation there's supposed
to be a fix, by downloading and putting a patch on floppies (another patch
to fix a patch), I'm going to try it today. The service pack 3 was a
security patch to protect against Blaster, don't know how this relates to
your problem but I saw your post so I thought I would mention it.

Thieres a reference to it at link below (~1/4 way down), seems to have been
created by virus.

You do not want this file back. It was the virus file. Click Start, Run
and enter MSCONFIG Go to the Startup tab and locate the entry that is
loading Winlogin.exe Uncheck it and click Apply. The system won't ask you
about it again. To remove "disabled" entries from MSConfig, see
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 148, right column for a
small utility that will remove the appropriate registry entries for you.
