It does not work when I want to log off my user account
using the start menu and clicking "log off (name)" and
then "log off" (where other option is switch user). How
can I fix this problem? The only way I've logged off is
by ctrl-alt-del, and by doing so windows task manager
pops up with options to disconnect or log off in the
users tab. Please help. I want to be able to log off
through the start menu.

What happens when you use Log Off from the Start Menu? Do you get an error?
Or does it seem like nothing happens?
If it's the latter, wait a few minutes - what usually happens is that there
is an application that is hung which is preventing you from logging out.
After a while, Windows will try to shut down that app manually, and you
should see a dialog pop up saying this. Once you figure out which apps are
preventing you from logging off, you can get to the root of the problem.

Well, when I log off from the start menu, a window
with "switch user" and "log off" appears. This is where
my problem occurs. When I choose the log off option,
nothing happens. It just won't log off the current user.
And so if I ctrl-alt-del, a Task Manager window pops up.
