losing control of my system

i am losing control of components of my computer and am
not sure why , i have norton full package , as well as
zone alarm , and yet i keep losing items such as : no
control over resolution dll initiation failure , a bad
block on my cdrom , help does not respond, troubleshooter
does not respond , restore does not comply and the list
seems to grow every day . if anyone knows how to assit me
i would appreciate it i will try to paste what my
computer is telling me with a new error report i
