I'm being bombarded with e-mails from Microsoft that
contain an attached file with a virus. I know that they
aren't from Microsoft but they look prety dam convincing,
beside blocking them or making numerous rules is there
any way of stopping them from getting to me in the first
place?

Pete,

Ultimately the only way to avoid receiving e-mails is by being extremely
careful about who you give your e-mail address to.
One very simple example would be under no circumstances ever use your real
e-mail address when posting to newsgroups (which unfortunately you have
done - and this will directly increase the amount of SPAM you will receive).

For more advice see
