EXE files

I have a number of EXE files which I have downloaded and
every time I try to open them either noting happens or I
get the dos prompt for a few seconds and then the screen
just goes back to normal. Is their a different way to
open these files or are they all corrupt as I have quite
a few of them and would like to be able to open them and
use them?

Hi

You havent specified what kind of files they are and what
purpose did you intend to download. if you are getting the
dos prompt then it means a patch and it gets registered
and installed. this is the behaviour in some programs. or
else you should get an error message saying that this is
an incomplete program downloaded.

Sounds like these may be DOS based utilities or similar that are
running and exiting.

What are the names of some of the files?

Try opening a DOS command prompt window (Accessories - Command
Prompt), navigating to the folder where the files are stored, and then
running them from the command line.
