View Full Version : Warning Message - Worry?

December 17th 03, 09:45 PM
Hi - I've received this WARNING message as far back as I
can remember...it states - "Detection of
product '{1CB63C5C-DA69-4793-BD35-43BDE2A86D43}',
feature 'MPEG2_Produce' failed during request for
component '{4F1C55BF-1E25-4162-A3C2-9398197882E8}'

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

The source is MsiInstaller, error code 1001 - Help&Support
returns a message that they have no information on that
error.

Should I be concerned? Could this be causing some of the
other run of the mill crashes that I experience every now
and then? Basically, my system runs fine until I start
getting a hunger to download some more programs from all
those UnknownSoftware.com type sites....The mention
of MPEG2 leads me to believe it's something having to do
with Media Player but if Microsoft doesn't know I sure as
h--k won't. This one warning message has been going on
though since Summer of '02 I'd imagine...way before my
downloading got out of hand.

Any reassurance that I'm not looking at the tip of a much
bigger iceberg would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

You can search in the registry on the string
1CB63C5C-DA69-4793-BD35-43BDE2A86D43
to see whether you can get info on what product
this is, and if so, perhaps an uninstall reinstall of
it will get the missing parts back
