On my new laptop running Windows XP, I can't access the
license agreement acceptance box when trying to download
Microsoft Windows updates - the box finishes before the
yes/no options and can't be expanded in any way. This
means I can't access the updates because I can't click
OK. Can anyone please tell me what to do, other than rip
out my already sparse hair?

Right-click on your desktop and select Properties > Settings > Advanced.

Under the "General tab" in Advanced Display Settings, adjust your
DPI setting to "Normal Size (96 DPI)" and click "apply".

Then revisit the Windows Update web site.

Many thanks Nicholas. You were quite right. Problem
solved. Obviously this is something that happens with
modern laptops, because they have such fine resolution.
The default settings delivered make the typeface too
large for the license agreement box.

Thanks, Taurarian. Although your advice didn't lead me
to a solution this time, it's useful to know of the
existence of that website.
