Hi,

I was happily letting XP update itself - a couple of
weeks ago it stopped working (about the time of MS-Blast,
but I haven't got that).

Whenever I try to turn it on using Control Panel /
System/ Automatic Updates there are only greyed-out
options on the tab.

Anyone know how I can turn this back on?

Is the Automatic updates service up and running?

You can check this in the Administrative Tools -> Services console.
