I've been chasing a problem with my computer dropping it's network
connection about 10-15 times a day. It's fixable by running 'arp -d *'
from the run line. It appears that the ARP table is getting corrupted.
This all started around the time of the MSBlast scare when I quickly
installed all the latest security updates. Apparently, there must be an
ARP table security vulnerability that they were preemptively patching. I
am assuming that if one exists, someone could find the MAC addresses for
all the computers on the local network.
Has anyone else had any problems with their network connections dropping?
In reading the following KB--
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;824105
It appears that this security patch is related and CAN be removed
(hooray!).
If you're using a firewall (like ZoneAlarm Pro), it's probably not
necessary. As soon as activity dies down on my server, I'm going to try to
uninstall it. More to follow,

P.S. I'm cross posting because it's relevant in this forum also.
