View Full Version : Norton Antivirus

I have Norton antivirus 2004 installed, and I was checking
on the "excludes" list. I noticed that only under the auto
protect function, it has the following exclusions:
..dbx
..nch
\system volumn information

and under manual scans, the only exludes listed are:
\system volumn information

These excludes are marked by default and I don't know
enough about computers (much less security) to research
what should be researched in order for me to make an
informed decision as to whether or not those should be
changed.
My first impression however is that if I have anything
marked as excluded, then my lever of protection has got to
be somehow reduced.
I have windows xp home edition, and I am the
owner/administrator. Can someone help me to understand if
there is anything that should be marked as exludeded for
norton antivirus? Is there ever a good reason to exlude
anything from a scan or auto protect function?
Thanks very much in advance for your expert reply.
