O/S Windows XP Home, using a CD-RW disk... when I wirte
to the cd, the file goes to the temp file to be written
to the cd. The problem I'm having is that it keeps
writing filee to the cd in read only format. I have right
clicked and un highlighted the read only icon but it
still writes the file as read only. looking for any help.

As I understand XP's CDwriteing software, it regards a CDRW the same as a
CDR, thus the read-only attribute gets set.
The only advantage of a CDRW is that you can erase it (in its entireaty) for
reuse.
