Hi,

I just installed Win XP SP1 today. As I follow through
the installation procedure, there is a option which I did
not uncheck the checkbox. That option is to Archive the
files but I am not sure what it is. Since the default is
to archive so I let it be. But after I installed to Win
XP SP1, I noticed that around 2 GBs of my hard disk space
was eaten up. But I don't where to get back my 2 GBs of
hard disk space. Can anyone help me? thanx alot!

As 'espara' said, though it is that said files/folders are normally hidden.
If you do not see them goto 'Tools'-menu, thiere select 'Folder Options',
then select 'View'-tab. Now click radio-button that says 'Show Hidden files
and folders', click 'Apply' and OK-out. Refresh display and you should now
see the files/folder in question (probabably in blue).

Thiere is one other matter of concern, in Add/Remove programs, thiere may be
some entries concerning the matter that have now became redundent, if when
you click them, they will say 'file not found' and give you the option to
delete the entry, this do so.

If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's
excellent website for instructions.

Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the
actual updates.
