Cannot Change Password at Login on a Windows NT domain

My password is expiring in a few days. Each time I logon
to the domain (Windows NT Server), it prompts me to
change the password. I enter the correct password
criteria, but the system give me the following message:
"The system cannot change your password now because the
domain is not available". I cancel the operation and
continue to logon to the domain. Once logged in, I can
then change my password. Why?

Check the DNS nad WINS settings.
