can't change file type to associated program

k i've tried changing the program that opens a file type
but the dang thing wont do it, i have to browse for it ,
and when i select the file, it just selects a program in
the list that wont open the file, i need to have this file
be opened with fchack, for .iff files, i've done
everything i can think of and it won't make it opn the
files with the program i select

Did you check the box at the bottom of the screen next "Always open this
file type with this program"?
