Try using AIDA32 http://www.aida32.hu/aida-features.php?bit=32 (freeware) .
Once installed launch the app and look in the Software section under
Licenses. You should see the product key for Windows XP and your Office
suite

To recover a lost/damaged CD or Product Key:
If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:
How to Replace Lost, Broken, or Missing Microsoft Software or Hardware
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246
If it was an OEM license, you should contact whomever sold you the
software; although few keep records of Product Keys sold, it's worth a
try before you have to buy a new license. Also, if you did originally
register the OEM installation with Microsoft they might be able to
help, although they're under no obligation to do so; All support is
the sole responsibility of the OEM.

Just tried this freeware - it is very powerful.
Unfortunately, it doesnt reveal the CD key for my office 2000. It just shows
the product ID.

AIDA32 failed me as well with the numbers for Office. I had installed Office
Standard. Later I installed an additional Office product that was not
included in the Standard package. Am guessing the Office Standard CD key was
replaced in the registry with the one for Front Page and it was all that
AIDA32 could report. I have had good luck with calling MS Office tech
support though. I had a damaged CD Key sticker (all numbers plain to read
except two) and another time a lost CD key. Both times, they were
accomodating and helped me out by providing a new key.
If this is an OEM copy of Office, they may not be as friendly and would
probably refer you back to whoever provided the CD to you originally.

Greetings --
How curious. Are you using the Enterprise edition? My AIDA32
Enterprise edition displays the 25-character alpha-numeric Office XP
Product Key, under the Software > Licenses section. (It even shows
the serial number for my registered copy of WinZip.)
