secure web sites

My computor will not let me log on to secure web sites.
When I try, I get the message "This page cannot be
displayed." My laptop, which uses the same internet
(cable) connection has no such trouble. Also, the problrm
arises when I use either Windows Explorer or Netscape.
I've tried many things but none work. Any ideas?

If you have a personal firewall installed, you need to allow access to port tcp 443
https outbound. Since you have tried different browsers, that would be the first
thing I would check. --- Steve
