I have windows xp professional, and received a virus
(which has since been cleaned out) last week. Since my
computer has been rid of the virus, I am unable to log
off current users without using ctrl-alt-del. I need
help to fix this problem so that I am able to log off
current users by going to the "start" menu then clicking
on "log off (name of user)" and then clicking "log off"
(where the other option is switch user). Please, please
someone suggest something. This small problem is giving
me a small headache. Thanx:)

Are you using the new Start Panel or the old Start Menu? What options do you
have in the start menu?

I am using the classic Start menu. What do you mean by
options in the Start menu? If I choose Log Off (user's
name), then a window pops up with "Switch User" or "Log
Off". When I choose Log Off, nothing happens to the
screen, as if to ignore the command.
