Hi:
I was wondering if anybody out there used the Canon DV Messenger
http://www.canondv.com/dvmessenger/features.html. If so, how does one
find people to get themselves started? I have it set up on my pc, but
I don't know if I have it set up correctly because I don't know of
anybody else who has it. I need to see if it works. Any help on this
would be appreciated. TIA.

I wasn't able to use it with someone when they only had Windows
Messenger, however IMHO, Canon should have a group like Windows
Messenger and Netmeeting does where one can find other users to talk
to. That being said, I just switched back to good ol' Windows
Messenger with the camcorder and I still had a wonderful conversation
with this person despite the Canon DV Messenger software not working.

I've got to thinking since a lot of time has passed on this one. If one had a
camcorder, it would probably be better just to have a video conversation on
Windows Messenger rather than the Canon DV Messenger because the DV Messenger
gives too much control of the camcorder to the person on the other side.

Hi Steve,
Well the Canon DV Messenger does make use of Windows Messenger, so it should be possible to
simply use that (of course I don't a Canon DV camera here to test it).

I've tested it out with a female I know in the UK. She said the picture over
Windows Messenger was much better with the Canon DV camcorder than with the
normal webcam. The only drawbacks I had were setting up the camcorder and
keeping an eye on the camera settings in Messenger (the second one was easy
though).
