View Full Version : Can't Connect after Upgrade to 4.7

I was using Messenger with no problems. Then,
windowsupdate.microsoft.com showed a new version of
Messenger (4.7) available for download. I downloaded and
installed. Now, it won't sign-in. The net folks here
insist they changed nothing. I was using Messenger just
fine moments before the upgrade.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Cris

Greetings Cris,
Are you using a third-party firewall? ie. ZoneAlarm, Mcafee, Norton Firewall, etc. If so,
it's possible that the firewall is recongizing the newest Messenger build as a "new" program
and therefore isn't allowing it access to the Internet. If this is the case, check in the
firewall configuration (the "Allow Programs" to access the Internet), and add the latest
version to the list.

For those of you who may have read David's "ignore all
this for now" message, please ignore his message. He
posted his reply in the wrong thread. My problem continues.

i guess this could be a firewall problem
try configuring the firewall to allow the new program.
if you've got norton internet security, configure the firewall by going to
the programs tab and clicking 'add'.
select the program you want norton to allow access to t'internet.
