View Full Version : administration rights-lock out

Example:
"You do not have the proper privelage level to change the
system time"

I am the Administrator!(Both Profiles I use on the PC
have full Admin Rights)
This lock out is also stopping me from using Windows
Update.

Please advise...

Thanks in advance,

JT

You don't say if you're running XP Pro or Home. If Pro, go to Start, Run
and enter GPEDIT.MSC Go to Computer Configuration, Windows Settings,
Security Settings, Local Policies, User Rights. Locate the Change the
System Time entry. Double click this entry and make sure the Administrators
group has permissions to change this.

Thanks for you help Doug, however, I got as far as you
said, double clicked on the change system time... and it
has nothing that I can highlight? It has "S-1-5-21-
2052111302-1202660629-1957994488-513" in the =
background? All the folders leading up to this one have
small padlocks on them, does that mean something? (ps.
I'm running XP Pro)

Thanks again...

JT

No, the padlocks are normal. Once the properties for Change the system
time are open, is the Add User button available? If so, click it. Either
add your username or your user group (Administrators). If you get an error
Name not found, click the Object Types button on that dialog and check the
Groups option.

Nope, once I open the properties I have no options
available?
