Can't connect after Upgrade to 4.7

i too have exactly the same problem!! i have fixed it by doing this::

remove windows messenger
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_messenger_remove.htm

download the previous version from microsoft and re-install it.

run chkdsk and sfc /scannow
