I've got 2 XP-based tesktop at home, one Professional and
the other is Home version. Recently I tried to make backup
from the C drives to an external HD. The Professional
worked just fine, but in that Home "Backup" is nowhere to
be seen. Under "System Tools" I got everything but Backup.
Under Windows Explorer when I right-click C drive and
Property, Tools tab, I see "Error Checking"
and "Defragmentation" but the bottom part, where "Backup"
is supposed to be, is simply blank.

What am I supposed to do?

In XP Home, I think you have to install NTBackup from the CD - it's on
there....if you do add/remove windows components in Add/Remove Programs in
control panel.
