how to shut off Windows Messenger?

Hi,
how do I shut off Windows Messenger once and for all?

I did already uncheck in Tools->Options->Preferences the
options "Run this program when Windows starts" and
"Allow this program to run in the background".
Still each time I run Outlook Express, the Windows
Messenger starts up again.

Try this
Start / Run Then enter in the following string:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

That'll get rid of it for good
