Can anyone enlighten me about FAQ's for this newsgroup? Do they exist? If
so, where?

Also, it is apparent that there is a wealth of lore and unpublished
information on the various conditions that must or must not be satisfied in
order for Messenger and its various features to work. Is any of it
assembled in a readily accesible resource?

It isn't specific to this newsgroup, but a lot of helpful information can be
found at the Windows Messenger Support Center:

Hi,

Although I somewhat hate doing this, but I'll have to plug my own site *grin*.

Johnathan,

No need to apologize. You have a right to a bit of boasting and plenty of
credit for the contribution you are making to all of us poor mortals trying
to glean information from the multitude of sources.

Shortly after writing my request for info on resources, I did find your
website, and it was/is a godsend. Many thanks.

Of course, I'm not yet home free with getting the talk, and app sharing
working, but I have some leads to pursue. I'll be back on the newsgroup
if/when the current leads are dead ends.

Please keep up the good work.
