I'm using Windows XP Professional and like Windows Messenger as there are no
adverts, but MSN Messenger 5 supports UPnP which I need in order to send
files and use the video chat feature etc.

Why didn't microsoft bring out a Windows Messenger 5 for those using Windows
XP? I know MSN Messenger works too with Windows XP, but it's strange having
both Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger installed.

Thanks!

Greetings Nona,

Windows Messenger 5 is still in development and will be released soon -- however, there are
now two Messenger clients (Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger) for Windows XP. Depending on
what features you want, is the one you'll use (or you can use both). Will the final version
of Windows Messenger 5 support UPnP file transfer? That remains to be seen.

Thanks Jonathon. I had no idea that there was a Windows Messenger 5 in
development. Any links for this?

At the moment, I'm using MSN Messenger 5 as I do need its features, but I'm
eager to find out more about Windows Messenger 5.

Thanks again.
