Hi Rob,

As a workaround, you can just add Messenger to your Startup group. To do so, click the Start
Menu, point to All Programs, right-click and Startup group and choose Open. Then choose the
File menu, then New, and then Shortcut.

In the location field, enter:
"%programfiles%\messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
(exactly as shown above) then click Next, and then Finish.

Your reinstall of Messenger should've corrected any problem with automatically logging in
however.
