View Full Version : Command Line Option?
Geoff Jamieson
April 17th 03, 08:40 AM
My cable internet login program has an option to run a command line on
Connect and Disconnect.
If I put a little wav file in my login program folder, and put its
name in the option box in the login program config, WMP runs it and it
works well, except WMP does not shut down after it finishes, it just
sits there.
Is it possible to put something in the box, like a full command line
string to start media player using the wav file, and then shut down
afterwards?
Thanks
GJ

Thanks for your help David, but it still does not quite work. It seems
to start WMP but it closes without playing the file.
I have made sure the filename is correct etc. but still no go.
Does it work on your machine?
I found the same solution in the microsoft knowledge base but I can't
get it to work.

Still doesn't work fo me unfortunately. Thanks for your time. It might
be the way the login program treats the command line internally. I
dunno.

David,
This is the latest of many tries
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe" /play /close C:\My
Documents\My Music\connect.wav
I have experimented with putting the wav file in different folders
etc. but always the same. There is a brief flash on the screen as WMP
starts and then colses, but no sound. The /close certainly works.

Hi
You need some more quotes:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe" /play /close "C:\My
Documents\My Music\connect.wav"
but I think I would have used this one instead:
sndrec32.exe /embedding /play /close "C:\My Documents\My Music\connect.wav"
