View Full Version : Switched to workgroup, can't login

My WinXP Laptop is usually logged into a domain. My
(domain) account has administrator privelages for the
laptop. In trying to connect it to my home network, I
switched the Systems properties to log into the home
workgroup. It prompted me to reboot, and now it will not
allow me to login with my usual (domain) username, and I
have no password for the local account(s). How do I get it
pointed back to the domain and just undo the damage?

Try invoking safemode during the boot (by hitting F8)
and logging on directly as the admin.

Dave - Thanks, but I don't know the administrator password.

It's usually a null password.
Just hit enter...

I did the same thing yesterday on win2k. You can reset
the admin password by downloading a free boot disk and run
the change PW program from there.

good luck!
