Yes, this is f*cking infuriating!!

I know HOW to stop it, but can't actually do it yet!

You need a firewall, and then you must block ports: UDP
ports 135, 137, and 138; TCP ports 135, 139, and 445

Find out how to easily do this, and then you're there!!

I use ****ty aol, so when you go to the settings drop
down on windows help, it won't let u tamper with it!
d'oh!!!

Hi

To solve your problem with MSN Messenger spam, simply enable the Microsoft
Windows XP firewall. I disabled it temporarily to send a buddy a few files
and before I new it I was getting annoying pop-ups.

As soon as the firewall was re-enabled. Everything seemed fine.

If that seems not to work, there is a shareware solution at:
http://www.stopthiscrap.com/. Or run "msconfig" in Start > Run and take MSN
Messenger SERVICE off the start-up. And there is help at:
http://www.popup-killer.info/messenger-spam/ and
http://www.blockmessenger.com/.

Alternatively:

Click Start->Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

Hope this helps!
