View Full Version : File opens with...query

Instead of 'Windows Picture and Fax Viewer' I want .gifs and .jpegs to open
with my Paint Shop Pro 7, so I highlighted a file, then right clicked:
Properties>General>Opens with>Change... and selected PSP7.
Problem is PSP7 then opens its existing 'Images' folder instead of the file
I want opened. Choosing a different image editor opens the file ok, but I
want PSP7 to do the job. Any advice please.
Cheers,
Brian

Hello Joli
Thanks for the reply, but you misunderstood -
I can successfully change the 'file opens with' options in: Windows
Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>File Types>Change.. but then.....
Problem is, PSP7 then opens its existing 'Images' folder window (which shows
other stored images but not the one I clicked on) instead of the actual file
I want opened. If I choose a different image editor to open the file type
e.g. Paint, or Adobe PhotoDeLuxe, they will open the file fine, but I want
PSP7 to do the job.
Cheers,
Brian

I don't use crap programs so I have no idea about PSP. Perhaps it's =

Brian, open PSP and use File> Preferences> File Format Associations
Check the boxes for gifs and jpegs.
Close the program and then try double clicking one of those file types
again.
If you continue to have problems with this, you should drop a note to Jasc
tech support.
