Memory problem

What do I need to do when I am installing memory for it
to work? My motherboard supports 3GB of RAM, I have 1GB
installed, when I try to install 512MB more my computer
won't boot. I get a blank screen. Any information will be
appreciated. Thank You, Mike

You have to use the same type and specification RAM, also
the 3 GB limit of the motherboard my require 1 GB modules.
I the BIOS able to detect and use all the RAM the mobo is
physically capable of holding?
