I am having an issue with getting my HP 7150 working
properly with XP Pro. It's USB, and I am using the
latest driver from HP's site.
I am using a HP Pavilion ze4200 Laptop right now, but I
had a very similar problem with my other computer (normal
box). When I tried to install the printer, everything
would go normal, and seemed to install correctly. But
the printer just wouldn't print. The printer was showing
up in My Printers. To fix this, I disallowed the USB
Ports to depower to save power (did this through admin
tools -> computer management -> device mgmt -> USB
controllers -> USB Root hub). On the last computer, this
fixed the problem*.
Now, with the laptop, I can't even get the printer to
show up in My Printers after installing it. The USB
Ports work, I can download from my camera. I did the
same process as above to disallow depowering. Within the
USB Controllers folder, there is a window named 'USB
Printing Support' that appears after installation.
Printer still does't work, I am out of ideas here*.
* - on a side note, with both computers, whether the
printer is working or not - if the printer is hooked up,
WinXP will recognize a new device (printer) when XP opens
up. I am prompted to install the printer with several
windows, as if it was a new device.
I wrote in this newsgroup about the initial problem with
the first computer, and nobody had any idea. There's got
to be someone else that has had this issue!
