usernames with machine name in them.

Hi... I just reinstalled xp and created the users on my
machine. I restored all the "documents and setting"
folders and noticed that the new users accounts have the
machine name in their name... bob.machine

my backup only has the username... is there something I
can do to remove the machine name?? If I rename it and log
back in, it creates a new user folder with the same name
format?
