recently installed new computers at home and office to
videoconference. Both have XP/ linksys wireless cable
router, cameras and microphones. We can communicate with
windows messenger via type (messaging) but cannot see or
hear each other. My logitech camera has an "on" lite
that does not illuminate I just have the black video
screen.(my camera does work in other apps.) when trying
to videoconference. We have tried 1. redoing the
audio/video tuning 2. checking for firewalls via your
previous post(in network connections box is unchecked).
Another of your suggestions is to check in network
connections for internet gateway? and when going thru
that I do not show one and assume that is not an issue.
Your help would be appreciated

Greetings Scott,

Actually, if you don't have the Internet Gateway listed then your Linksys routers aren't
using the latest firmware and/or don't have Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) enabled, which is
required to use voice/video conversations through Messenger and a router/NAT.

Most of the Linksys wireless routers have support for UPnP, just go to:
http://www.linksys.com/download and install the latest firmware. After the latest firmware
is installed, open up the main configuration of the router (usually http://192.168.1.1),
choose the Password tab, and enable UPnP. After enabling, you'll need to reboot the PC
that's going to have the voice/video conversation, and it should work.

Note: both sides will need to do this.
