i have win 98 and msn messenger 5.0. i have downloaded webcam for msn
messenger. My girlfriend have win Xp HE and Windows messenger. We
can't make video chat because anytime one or the other send an
invitation, a msg tell's the communication is impossible. We haven't
Firewall. I call directly by IP.
There are problems of compatibility between programs? How can I do?

Greetings,
The built-in video functionality of Windows Messenger is not the same as the "Webcam for MSN
Messenger" add-on for MSN Messenger 5, as such, they're incompatible. In order to do this,
she'll need to download MSN Messenger 5 (which does work on Windows XP) and the Webcam for
MSN Messenger addition, found at:
http://messenger.msn.com/download/download.asp?client=1 and
http://messenger.msn.com/support/webcam.asp respectively.
Then, you can just initiate using that -- however, another solution would be to use the
'Start Netmeeting' option (which should be in your MSN Messenger 5 client) which your
girlfriend will be able to accept in her Windows Messenger client (although it doesn't have
the Netmeeting option on by default).
