I have been using Messenger for over a year now; as I work in a satellite
office away from my colleagues it has been a very useful communicatin tool.
However, for the last two months or so, almost every time I go to use it I
click on an apparently 'online' contact, only to find that I cannot message
because I am NOT online. Messenger shows no evidence that I am signed out
until I try to use it. If I log back in, message and then leave it alone
for 5-10mins, I always find I am logged out.
I have an ADSL connection which is always on. Over this I have a VPN
connection to head office which does go off and on during the day (though
not as often as Messenger signs out). I have been troubleshooting this for
weeks now, and it seems quite a lot of people have hte problem and there is
no solution.
I just installed Trillian. Works perfectly; there is no voice facility
(don't use that much anyway), but it stays logged in the whole time. To me,
that points the fault directly at Messenger 4.7
Maybe v5 will work?
