My computer's specs are:

Athlon XP 1700+
512MB SDRAM
40GB Hard Disk
GeForce 2 MX400

Nearly every time I play a game that uses Direct 3D my computer freezes at
that time of the game, CTRL+ALT+DEL gets me nowhere- the problem occurs
under different games. I cannot find anything about this in Event Viewer-
except this Application Error report which appears about 7 times about 3
minutes before it locks up:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: True Vector Engine
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1
Date: 13/04/2003
Time: 11:28:13
User: N/A
Computer: PCXP
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( True Vector Engine ) cannot
be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information
or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be
able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and
Support for details. The following information is part of the event: .

I don't think this is problem with my PC- as it has never ever locked up
when not playing a game. I only installed this GeForce 2 yesterday, until
then I was using my onboard 16mb graphics. Thats why I think the problem is
with the graphics card.

Many Thanks

Hi Sam,

Uninstall ZoneAlarm, that is the source of your conflict. This has been =
a problem with ZA in WinXP. You might want to try Kerio as a replacement =
(I don't recommend going without a firewall unless you are on dial-up, =
and even then it's iffy). www.kerio.com
