PC connects to pptp VPN easily and successfully logs on.
However it is unable to connect to any Web pages or
resources on network. Can ping all addrresses on Network,
by name or addresss. Internet browses fine even with VPN
connection up. Windows 2000 does not have this issue. It
works perfectly.

I would suspect you are logging on with Guest privileges.

This can be effected by a number of settings.

* Simple File Sharing on.

* Guest account disabled. (not on the welcome screen, in Policy)

* Password set on the guest account.

It's probably some combination of the above or some failure in ICS
configuration.

Thanks for the quick reponse, however I may not have been
clear. The client is an XP machine connecting to a VPN
server (unknown type) at my business. It uses pptp and
chap2 etc. When I connect from home I can browse Intranet
sites and access shared data easily from my Windows 2000,
from my XP I can only ping the internal addresses. Name
resolution is good since I can ping by name. Intranet
sites just hang with a "opening...." I cannot figure out
the difference between my 2000 and XP machines since ALL
network setting are the same.

I would suspect an corrupt IE cache. Try clearing the T.I.F.
