XP repair install AFTER using the recovery console

Can I perform a "repair installation" of XP (home edition) AFTER loading and
using the Recovery Console? Apparently I should be able to boot from CD,
press Enter, then F8, then "R" for the repair install. This option now does
not exist. Are there any workarounds?
