Hi!
Does anyone knows how I could detect if someone has blocked me or not in
windows messenger?
Another question, is wether or not I could retreive the IP address of a
person that I chating with?
Thanx.

Greetings John,
You might be able to detect if they've blocked you, go to http://www.mess.be, click
"Block/Status Checker" on the left hand side and enter their passport e-mail address.
The only way you could retrieve an IP address of someone is if you were to initiate (or they
did) a file transfer, voice/video conversation, or something else that directly connects you
to your contact -- basic text chatting goes through the Messenger servers and is untraceable
(at least at your end).

You can only detect if someone blocks you if you are running Windows
Messenger 4.7 or MSN Messenger 4.6 or below, with an anti-block tool
installed. It works only if by chance, a person opens your window while you
are blocked.
If you want the IP Address for a genuine purpose, then ask them for it,
otherwise I assume you want it to perform a dastly deed, so I won't be
disclosing how to get it any other way.

Jonathan,
I find that a very disturbing page. What do you think about the
polygamy patch? That makes me wonder - when you block someone, you
specify the person blocked by their current nickname. But what does
the block record - nickname or userid?

Hi Chuck,
On Messenger, the display names means very little (besides showing up in the client as the
persons name -- everything is based on passport e-mail address).
Although at first glance "Mess with MSN Messenger" may appear like some site devoted to
breaking Messenger, it really isn't -- it's more about having fun (like adding ASCII
characters into your display name) -- pretty harmless.
The polygamy patch does work alright, although it can cause other apps that use the Messenger
COM control to be "confused" -- obviously its unsupported.
