wall paper disappears when relogging on from screen saver

The display applet in control panel has a configuration dialog for the
screensaver to do that (see checkbox)

I had the same issue. I was setting my wallpaper using the right-click option to "Set as Background" -- where that file actually ends up is anyone's guess. When I copied my background file into the "windows/web/wallpaper" it showed up on the standard "Display Properties/Desktop" background list. After choosing it from there, I haven't had the problem.

Your "set as background" file will be selected and at the bottom of the list the first time you go back into the desktop settings. Even though the image (and maybe the name) is the same, be sure to choose the one you added.

Ok, check that. It was good for a week and a half. Now it's back. If you solve this one, let me know.
