How can I 'start' messenger and 'Appear Offline'?

Greetings Mac,

Unfortunately, you can't. Messenger automatically sets you as Online when you sign in. As a
workaround however, if you don't have that many contacts, you can just block everyone before
you sign out -- and then just unblock them when you want to show as online.

You can't, this is the biggest stupidity of Messenger.
That is why we (all my contacts & myself) are using Yahoo Messenger.
