View Full Version : What ports MSN/Microsoft Messanger use?

Hi,
got problem mit connecting to other user behind a firewall. Sometimes it
work sometimes not. Then there is a SLIP Error.
Port 3389 ist free.
Are there any other Ports? Especially for the Whiteboard, Application and
Remote Feature?

Greetings Marco,
The other ports Messenger uses are TCP ports, 1863 (for the Messenger server connection),
1503 (for whiteboard/application sharing), and 6891-6900 (for file transfers). As well, UDP
ports 5004-65535 are used for voice/video conversations -- and 3389 TCP (which you already
said you had) does Remote Assistance.
