Greetings Weber,
MSN Messenger 5 does have all the functions of Windows Messenger -- however, you need to keep
Windows Messenger installed (but not running) in order to use them all. It's up to you which
Messenger you use, you can download MSN Messenger 5 and give it a try -- you can always
uninstall it if you don't like it:

Hi Weber,
A few things -- like SIP Communications Server support, the 'Use Windows Color Scheme'
option, etc.

Hi Weber,
This would depend on your network configuration, as I explained before MSN Messenger 5 has
UPnP enabled file transfer, which does allow it to send files through routers (or another
UPnP NATs), but MSN Messenger 5 does have some issues with some Linksys routers and
voice/video support, so there really isn't one clear answer for this.

Hi Weber,
I personally use both yes, but only because I have several Passports I like to be signed on
to at the same time -- which, by running both, I'm able to do.
