View Full Version : bad echos using windows msg or netmeeting
I am running windows XP using windows messenger either by
its self or with netmeeting. doing vice and video
communication. Messenger is Ver. 4.7 Xp has SP1. The Echo
is very bad. More so with video than with straight audio.
Also the video seems awfully slow. I am using a cable
modem for communication. Have tried a number of things to
stop the echo. It is hard to have a conversation it is so
bad. Does anyone have any suggestions Thanks ROl

Greetings,
Your "echo" is probably caused by your contact using speakers + microphone on their side --
what you're hearing is yourself being played on their PC. Both of you may just need to turn
on acoustic audio in the Audio Tuning Wizard (open up the main Messenger window, click the
Tools menu, then Audio Tuning Wizard and uncheck 'I am using headphones' as necessary). A
better solution would be just to ask your contact to use headphones + mic, or get a headset
(especially if you talk often).
