I just loaded XP pro and Activated it.
I am thinking about upgrading the motherboard and proceesor.
I have heard that is a problem with XP because of activation process.
What do I need to do?
Anyone

Hi Scott,
If it's a regular retail version of WinXP, then it isn't a problem. You may
be prompted to reactivate, and you may need to phone it in. All you need to
do is tell them of the hardware change and you will be given a new
activation code. If you purchased an OEM version, then it is tied to the
hardware that you originally installed it on, and an upgrade may not be an
option.

Greetings --
Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll need to perform a
repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the very least:

This may also require re-activation. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most
likely be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
