View Full Version : Windows Logo failure... This software will not be installed

Hi,

Whenever I try to install anything via Windows Update I get a pop-up window
which says 'This software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo
testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP... This software will
not be installed' and so the install quits.

Problem is, all the software I am trying to install is from MS - either SP1,
IESP6.1, various MS hotfixes and critical updates, etc. I have even gone
into the Registry at one point to make Windows XP think that IE is not
there - I had the problem with the IE6.1 SP install saying a newer version
already existed - and still I get the above Windows Logo compatibility
problem.

Anyone know how to fix this - I have an increasing number of fixes from MS
NOT installed on my PC.

Jan.

Thanks. Been driving me crazy for ages - nice to see that a few other fixes
to updating have also been resolved.
