G'day ,

Every day now for some weeks I get a "Windows Messenger 4.6 Connectivity
Update" which refers to KB Q320259.

I dutifully install it but it always occurs again next day. I thought at
first that it was a "new" patch every day but now I am certain that it
is the same one and for some strange reason it is not being recognised
as having been installed.

This is what the KB says:

Critical Update Is Available for Windows Messenger 4.6
(320259) - Windows Messenger may repeatedly try to log on to the
Microsoft .NET Messenger Service in the background, and when Windows
Messenger cannot log on, no error messages are generated.

I always have Messenger in the Tray as "Not signed in" and as far as I
know it is not trying to log in. If I do click "log In" it works great.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Greetings Mike,

If you install the latest Windows Messenger (4.7.2009), this should go away:
