I've had msn messenger 4.7 for sometime. Then went up tp
5.0 and have been using for months. Now when I go to
windows update,I see 4.7 as a recommend after the scan
for updates.What gives?Then I'm getting asked if I want
4.7 through msn messenger.Also,when I'm using 5.0,my
firewall alert keeps asking to allow 4.7 to access.Should
I remove 5.0 in add/remove and can I start over again
without looseing all my contacts.2 other accounts are
setup on this computer, will they loose everything also?
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me out.

Greetings Rich,

The update on Windows Update is just for the latest build of 4.7 (4.7.2009) -- you're using
an earlier build, so this is why it's coming up WindowsUpdate.

It's not an essential upgrade, nor does it really add any "new" functionality, so if you're
setup is already working the way it is, just ignore it for now.

Note: reinstalling or uninstalling Messenger versions will not destroy any contact lists --
contact lists are stored on the Messenger servers, and as such, removing Messenger won't
touch them -- as well, you can login on any computer and have access to your contact list
instantly.
