I'm totally ignorant, so you'll have to bear with me.. I used to do
net sends at the company I worked for a few years ago and I'm trying
to do it now to someone. It says it worked but the coworker is not
getting the popup message. Does that require some kind of special
program or something. I'm typing the following (sans quotes) "net
send username message" Thanks for the help!

Greetings Christine,
Your syntax is fine -- in order to receive it, the person needs to either have the "Messenger
Service" loaded (NT/2000/XP) or WinpopUp (95/98/ME).
You can check the status of the Messenger Service by going to the Control Panel, choose
Administrative Tools (if you're using XP, you may have to click Classic View on the left).
Double-click Services, and Scroll down to "Messenger", select it, right-click and then choose
Properties. If the service isn't started, choose the 'Start' button.

Did you disable Messenger Service?
Are you or your co-worker on the same network? (behide different firewalls)
